“It’s better to be prepared for an opportunity and not have one. Than have one and not be prepared. “Whitney M. Young, Jr.
Overnight success
In the entertainment industry there is a phrase “overnight success” that is used to describe new entertainers that seemed to have popped out of nowhere when their careers take off. They can be seen anywhere and everywhere. Once thing I’ve noticed when these “newbies” are interviewed is that they all have this one thing in common. There overnight success was years in the making. They had been pounding the pavement- networking, interviewing, going on auditions, training – preparing for their big break. Such is life, the things that we want usually do not happen overnight, they take time to manifest. So, what do you do while you wait for your hearts desires or big opportunity? Prepare! We focus on four aspects needed to create and sustain success: Mindset, Skill building, Network, and physical presentation. This will be a four-part series on areas to focus on while you wait for your big break. The first aspect I will address is Mindset.
Mindset
Our path to success is usually one we’ve never traveled before. We know that there is a destination. We can see other’s have gotten there or we know that there just must be some place better than our current location. However, we have no road map of how to get there. We know where we want to end up but the steps to getting there can be unclear. Novelty, unpredictable, or ambiguous create worry and self-doubt. Worry and self-doubt can trigger fear and fear can be paralyzing. Working on our mindset helps us reduce our fear by learning to face our fear and thus move forward.
That what you seek is seeking you too and at the rate that you are seeking it.
It is possible to have what you want, although we must expand our consciousness to make the mental leap. Water rises to its own level meaning we can only bring into our lives that which we believe we can have or thinks we can create. Therefore, the first pillar of preparation I have for you is to work on your mindset. There are 3 aspects of mindset I think you should focus on 1. Conquering fear, increasing awareness and enhancing your confidence.
The big things we want are usually on the other side of fear. If we stretch and challenge ourselves by stepping out of our comfort zone, our comfort zone expands. One way to do this is by creating a list of things that scare you, rank them by least scary to scariest and tackle them one by one.
Increasing your awareness. Become curious and observant of life, travel, read books, experience different cultures. Other ways to increase awareness or expand your consciousness is by writing or reciting affirmations, learning how to identify and replace faulty thoughts, listen to podcast or watch motivational videos. Does this sound good? Good! Challenge yourself to read something educational, motivational or spiritual at least 15 minutes daily.

The last tip I want to share about increasing your awareness of your head chatter, listen to your inner voice. We all have an internal monologue going on in our head. It is usually critical, fear-based, inaccurate and most times happening subconsciously. While we may not be aware of the chatter, it can influence our moods and behaviors. By becoming more aware of your head noise, you can challenge those thoughts that are incorrect and no longer serve you with more accurate thoughts. Sit silently for 5-10 minutes daily to observe your unique thoughts, feelings and beliefs. Doing this increases your consciousness and allows to you make conscious decisions and thus reduce your suffering. If you increase your consciousness for example going from not believing something is possible for you to believing that it is. That will impact your behaviors, thoughts, and emotions in a positive day. You will start making conscious choices that reflect that new belief moving you closer to your goals.
Confidence
Working on the aforementioned aspects, will result in a renewed sense of confidence. Confidence is the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; firm trust. Confidence is absolutely needed if you are charting into unknown territory. You must first believe in yourself before you are able to move forward. You must believe that what you are seeking is possible and working to create a shift in your mindset will help with that.
One way you can grow your confidence is to educate yourself and prepare yourself for the future. For example, you might be thinking of attending further education but are unsure of the choices. In this situation, the best thing you can do is to look at resources like Alpine Academy Utah reviews to help you make the right choice.
